Effective
August 31, 2014, in addition to Team Officials, the
OMHA will require all On-ice Volunteers, On-Ice Officials and Parents to take the appropriate
‘Respect’ education. At least one parent or guardian of each player registered in minor hockey in the
OMHA will need to complete the online
Respect In Sport Parent Program as a condition of participation. The program is a proactive, educational program that empowers parents with the tools to ensure the game is enjoyable and respectful for themselves, their children and all other stakeholders in the
game.
The
Respect in Sport Program for Parents is a unique, in-depth 1 hour online program geared to providing the parent with information on how to evaluate and understand:
~ Parental influence over a child
~ Coach and leader roles in sport
~ Role of the parent and coach in ensuring a child’s enjoyment of a sport
~ Protecting your child when outside of your immediate control
~ Concussion awareness & Return to Play guidelines
~ Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model

OMHA Respect
in Sport for Parents online module, please follow the link below. Do not use links from other sports.

~~ When you connect to the above link, you will be prompted to either log in or create a new profile. If you have previously completed the
Respect in Sport for Parents program for another organized sport (ie.soccer) you may log in with your existing information. You will be then be able to transfer this course information over to
OMHA and will not need to complete the program for a second time. Then, you may link each of your children to your file to enable parent completion to show on your child's
Hockey Canada record. Please follow the simple instructions on screen.

Respect in Sport for Parents program, please create a new profile.

Respect in Sport for Parents is a unique program and previous completion of other
Respect in Sport Programs or
Speak Out cannot be carried over to your Parent Profile. Please create a new profile and complete Respect in Sport for Parents.
~~ Once your profile is created, you will be able to "link" your child/children to your profile by following the on screen instructions and entering the name and birth date of each child.
~~ Once all children have been linked, you will be prompted to proceed with payment. Once payment is complete, you may begin the program by clicking on the modules in the left column. The program takes approximately 1 hour to complete and you have the option to complete the program in segments and return at your convenience.

Please note: Completion of this program is mandatory for participation in OMHA sanctioned hockey for the 2014-15 hockey season. Players will not be approved on a roster if a parent has not completed this program. Without a roster, teams will not be able to participate in games or tournaments as only OMHA approved rosters are accepted at games and tournaments.
