Lancers Finalists in the Delhi Tournament
The Lancers made the trip down Hwy 3 over the weekend for the Delhi Tobacco Town Tournament playing five games in two days against some tough teams from the Southern Counties loop.  It was another successful tournament for the Lambeth peewees winning their first four before losing a close tilt in the finals.

Lambeth started the tournament bright and early Saturday morning against a rough Burford squad that came out flying and hitting everything in sight.  The Lancers weathered the early storm and after finding themselves down 2-1 at the end of the second period, it was all Lambeth in the third with goals from Zimmer, Stenning, and Chrisjohn's second of the game to capture game 1 with a 4-2 win.

On Saturday afternoon the Lancers faced off against the Port Dover Pirates in game 2 of the round robin. Lambeth was the dominate team from the drop of the first puck and got off to a quick start taking a 3-1 lead in the first period, and 6-3 lead after two. In the third period it was all Rowe and the Lambeth defense shutting down Dover and any chance of a comeback by the Pirates. Goal scorers were Panziera with 2, Stenning, Doxtator, Faragher, and Mazzilli.

The final game of the round robin was a match against the hometown Delhi Rockets early Sunday morning. The Lancers were beginning to hit their stride and won every period capturing all 5 points for the game and a first place tie with Aylmer heading into the semis. Connor Rowe notched his fourth shutout of the season, with Panziera, Beattie, Chrisjohn, and a Stenning tip off of a big Kellett point shot accounting for the 4-0 win.

Sunday afternoon it was off to the semi-finals against a big Lincoln team. The Lancers were ready to play and capitalized early on the power play with Faragher finishing off a Panziera pass to take a 1-0 lead after 1. In the second period Lincoln once again found themselves in penalty trouble and with a 5 on 3 power play Maton scooped up a Kellett rebound and with some nifty stickhandling slammed one home from the slot. Lambeth would take a 3-0 lead with just 46 seconds left in the second period when Mazzilli once again showed his knack around the opposition crease finding the loose puck and burying it in the back of the Lincoln net. Then things began to get interesting as Lincoln came alive and started to claw their way back scoring two goals 3 minutes apart to close the gap to 3-2. But once again the strong Lambeth defense tightened up with some big hip checks from Halliday and Carpenter and Doxtator constantly clearing the opposition out from in front of the Lambeth net. The Lancers would hold on for a 3-2 win and were off to their second finals in only their second tournament of the year.

In their third game of the day Lambeth met up with the Aylmer Flames missing Chrisjohn due to an injury sustained in the semi-finals. The Lancers stuck to their game plan and played a tough game but had a hard time finding their legs after a long weekend. Lambeth never quit and battled hard to the end but would end up losing 3-1 with the lone goal coming from Mazzilli.

Game MVP's were Chrisjohn, Panziera, Adams, Rowe, and Panziera in the final.

It was another great weekend of Lancer hockey as the peewees extended their tournament record to 10-1 this season. The boys spent a lot of quality time together and the team is really starting to gel which can only mean big things for this team heading into the SilverStick tournament and the OMHA playdowns after Christmas. The boys are a fun group of kids to be around and their accomplishments already this season has been very rewarding for the coaching staff and we're excited to see just how far these kids can go!!

Keep working hard kids we are only going to get stronger as the season goes on and all these experiences will pay off come playoff time.  See everyone tomorrow night in Lambeth for a rematch with Petrolia.
