Blenheim Tournament Consolation Champs
The Lambeth Lancer peewees won the Consolation championship in the Blenheim tournament over the past weekend with a 3-2 comeback win over the Ennismore Eagles. It was another long weekend of hockey for the peewees playing 4 games against some tough competition and winning 3 out of 4!

In the opening game of the tourney the Lancers faced off against the St Thomas Jr Stars.  Lambeth put the pressure on right away and controlled the pace of the game pinning St Thomas in their own zone for the better part of the game but had a tough time finding the back of the net, continuously hitting posts and crossbars and firing pucks into the goalies' chest over and over. The final shot tally was 45-20 for Lambeth but the Lancers ended up dropping the game 5-3.

The Lancers would come back on Saturday morning with a whole different attitude in a morning rematch from the Mitchell tournament with the Kincardine Kinucks. The peewees played a tough game against the physical Kinucks  and proved once again to be the better of the two squads coming out on top 4-1.

In the third game Lambeth met up with a quick Ingersoll team that was in need of a win to stay alive. It was another close game with constant back and forth action and some big hits by both teams, the Lancers once again grinding out a 3-1 win and securing a second place finish in their pool and a trip to the Consolation finals against the Ennismore Eagles.

The Lancers came out of the gate sluggish and a little tired from some early morning trips down the 401, and found themselves in a 2-0 hole at the end of the second period. But once again Lambeth showed their is no quit in them and in a recurring theme of the season pulled together and started the third period with a renewed sense of urgency and found their legs putting Ennismore on their heels. The Lancers scored two quick goals to tie up the game and scored the eventual game winner with 41 seconds remaining then hung on for the win shutting down a late Eagles charge capturing the title.

One of the highlights of the weekend was Dawson Maton representing Lambeth in the skills competition on Saturday. The competition comprised of a speed obstacle course stickhandling through cones, a target shooting event, and a shootout. Dawson captured the title of fastest time in the obstacle course and was a strong showing for the Lancers in all events!!

Another fun weekend of hockey for the boys and another good result at the end of it! Time to start thinking about the upcoming SilverStick tournament in Watford over the Christmas holidays!!

See you at the rink.
