Silver Stick Starts in Style
The boys in burgandy battled the Lakers in Petrolia in their opening game of the Silver Stick regional tournament. Determined to show themselves as a better team than the one that eekd out a 4-3 victory earlier in the month against Wallaceburg, Lambeth hit the ice firing on all cylinders.

The Lancers dominated the early play and had their hard work rewarded on a first period goal from alternate Andrew Fletcher on a tight pass through the crease from Zach Waller. Lambeth staked out a 2 goal lead before the first period ended on a Kyle Mackay shot from Cole Chilvers and Casey Coyle.

Nick Lorusso scored early in the second frame with helpers going to Zach Waller and Andrew Fletcher. Wallaceburg replied with their opening goal a few minutes later, only to see Lambeth answer back with one of the Lakers in the sin bin. A solid puck possesion power play was culminated on a Dylan Nash pass to Liam Baughman who put the biscuit home for the Lancers.

The third period scoring started with the Lancers marking a 5-1 lead as Liam Baughman wristed a screen shot high on the blocker side, with Dylan Nash and Nick Lorusso getting the assists. A few minutes later things got interesting as Nick Lorusso delivered a bone crushing open ice check that was assessed a debatable 5 minute major penalty. With Ryan Gough already in the penalty box, the Lakers converted their 5 on 3 power play to cut the lead to 5-2. However a beautiful short handed stretch pass from Ryan Haruta at the 2 minute mark of the third period sent Kyle Mackay in all alone to seal the deal at 6-2.

Lambeth now face Waterford in their next Silver Stick game on Wednesday at 10am.
