The OMHA Quest Commences!
The pursuit of an OMHA Championship is more often than not an elusive goal. It is a standard by which we measure ourselves. It is a vision that we revere to imbue our hearts with the perseverance required to vanquish both our foes and our fears.

The Lancer Quest for glory began exactly a fortnight from the dawn of the Year 2012.

The Lancers started their best 3 out of 5 series with the Wallaceburg Lakers at home on Saturday night. Depsite their home ice adavantage, the friendly Lambeth crowd had to overcome their repugnance of the bile and venom belching from a Demon Dragon, as they fought to laud the virtuous boys of Beattie.

Their cheers did not go amiss as the Lancers dominated from the first drop of the puck. The Lancers unleashed a barrage of shots, but failed to bulge the twine until the last minute of the first period. A pretty pass from Kyle Mackay, followed by a top shelf backhand courtesy of Cole Chilvers had the home team up 1 - 0.

The Lancer onslaught continued in the second and was quickly rewarded, as Garret Doxtator and Cole Chilvers helped Casey Coyle to hoist his stick in his inimitable and unique celebration at the 12:39 minute mark. Less then a minute later the floodgates appeared open as Moose Haruta combined with Zach Waller and Nick Hilborn to make the score 3 - 0.

Things got ugly in the third as the Lakers appeared determined to ignore the OMHA edict banning head shots. The Lancers stood their ground but were on the wrong end of the penalty clock for 12 of the 15 minutes in the final frame. This led to a pair of power play goals for the Lakers, and might have made for a nail biting finish were it not for a Jarvis Millard goal setup by Andrew Fletcher, and a deft move to hold the blue line by Gee on D.

Four to one was the final with the series skirmish continuing 7 days hence in Wallaceburg.
