Seige on the Sydenham
The Laker clan hoped the town named after Sir William Wallace would offer refuge for their Major Midgets stinging from a 4 - 2 loss a week earlier. The invaders from the east however swarmed the battlements, and laid seige to their foe, enjoying a 28 - 13 shot advantage in the opening two periods.

The Lancers were rewarded for their efforts in the second, with Zach Waller opening the scoring on assists from Jarvis Millard and Dylan Nash. Shortly before the end of the period the Lancers took a 2 - 0 lead with Millard notching his second assist of the game. Casey Coyle was joined by all four linemates in his oh so distinctive celebration.

The Lakers clawed their way back in the first shift of the third period, capitalizing on some soft defensive coverage by the Lancers. The next 14 minutes of the third, saw nothing hit the gamesheet but penalties, as both teams played tentative hockey. A poorly timed penalty to the Lancers with 2:11 remaining in the third period led to a frantic finish. The Lakers pulled their goalie for a 6 on 4 advantage, and forced Andrew Harris to flash the leather on several occasions in his Lancer debut. With time winding down Andrew Fletcher lofted the puck high in the air, leaving the Lakers to watch in futility as the puck rolled on it's end the entire length of the ice, putting the game out of reach as it crossed the goal line with 10 seconds remaining.

Game 3 returns to Lambeth on Saturday January 28th.
