The Ontario Women's Hockey Championship weekend in Toronto - April 9-12
Lambeth Lancers Atom C and Midget BB Girls are going!
On the first day of tryouts in May the coaching staff felt this Atom C team had a chance to make it to the Provincial Championship Weekend in Toronto. It’s been almost a year since that day and we’ve been playing hockey for the last seven months and the championships are only a few days away. We’ve developed individual skills and team tactics. We’ve won a lot of games and lost a few, but the goal we set in September has always been the same; win a Provincial Title.
After all those wins the past three games have been tough. We’re learning that playoff hockey is all about hard work and tenacity and how much of a difference it makes. In the Dressing Room we call this “filling the gap.” It’s the extra effort you make when you just HAVE to do something, beyond just WANTING to do it. It’s often the difference between winning and losing at this time of year. It’s when we put away the reasons for losing and focus on the reasons to win. We know the Girls have the skills but can they outwork the best teams in Ontario, do they want it more? We’re going to Toronto to find out.
