Minor Hockey Association of Lambeth

Hello Lancer Nation,

Registration

It was the hope of the Minor Hockey Association of Lambeth (MHAL) to have our 2020-2021 season starting in the early fall, however this date has yet to be confirmed.  Given the uncertainty of the start date, MHAL will be stopping all payments associated with the current registration payment plan. For those that have not registered yet, you can still register at any time, no fees will be accepted. The Executive continues to be very optimistic and encouraged by London's Phase 2 stage of re-opening.  Currently, we patiently await direction from both the City of London for arena access and direction from OMHA.  Once we are given a start date, we will start accepting payments and communicate with registrants of start dates.  Please note that registration fees were set based on the season starting Sept. 8th. Should this date change, fees will be adjusted accordingly.  For those who have paid the $100 deposit or more, your money will be kept in trust and credited against any outstanding balance.  Once we are told we can start, the Executive anticipates having a short window of time to get the season up and running.   Registrants should also expect to have a short window to finalize payments for their players and a slightly different try-out schedule and format. Registrants are still encouraged to set aside money as if the payment plan was in place. Full payment must be in place before the first skate for any registrants.

Summer Ice

City of London owned arenas are closed but those independently owned or outside of London are starting to open.  The province has passed legislation which requires ice rentals to only be made by registered organizations such as Minor Hockey Associations or individuals who have their Hockey Canada Licensed Development Specialists certification.  We are unsure how much ice we will be able to secure but we hope to be able to offer each 2019-2020 team 2 hours. The team will incur the cost of the ice which will be approximately $25/player. With the abrupt end of the hockey season, the Executive felt teams would appreciate the opportunity to get out on the ice together.  The current restrictions are nine players on the ice and one coach, no parents in the arena, and players come dressed.

Equipment Returns

All City of London recreational buildings remain closed.  The MHAL Equipment Manager will not be accepting equipment returns until we have access to the arena.  When this happens, Coaches will be notified of their scheduled time to drop off equipment.  Volunteer cheques will be given to Coaches to distribute at this time.

Executive Positions

We are still looking to fill the position of Treasurer

All Minor Hockey Associations are required to have a COVID-19 Communications Officer. The list below highlights a description of the role:

·    monitoring all relevant updates from the public health authority

·    communicating with local facilities on guidelines and updates

·    ensuring teams are following prevention guidelines set by the Association and League

·    ensuring COVID-19 cases are reported as required by the public health authority

We are hoping a parent who works in the medical field will volunteer for this role.  Please email Christa Fisher or Craig Cooper if you are interested or would like more information about these positions.
