The Fog is Lifting on Player Movement
Keep in mind the entire purpose of "The Made for Ontario Plan" is to afford players the opportunity to compete at a higher level where possible and practicable.

The OMHA has passed the motion and it permits three options:

A player from an OMHA BB base category Centre and below may try out for:

a. AAA Zone as per the current regulations;
b. One (1) AA team in a AAA or AA base category Centre nearest to his residence (London Jr. Knights only);
    OR
    One (1) A team in an A base category Centre nearest to his residence (St. Thomas Stars only) AND
c. Home Centre (Lambeth only)

For clarity, you are permitted to tryout for AAA as before with no change in regulations. You are permitted ONE tryout with EITHER London Jr. Knights AA or St. Thomas Stars A (but not both), and if unsuccessful you have NO option but to play back in Lambeth. Be very careful with your investigation of regulations and opportunity because it may very well place you in a position you do not want to be in.  Details surrounding tryout and registration for Jr. Knights are being worked out including details surrounding acceptance of Non-Resident Players and how that affects tryouts and registration.

Some real progress has been made this week with approval of an "A" Centre for Lambeth players. The St. Thomas Minor Hockey Association Board of Directors passed a resolution Jan. 24th to ACCEPT 3 Non-Resident Players per team. During the coming weeks, they will be preparing for the 2011-2012 season including coach selection, registration and tryout procedures. Typically, the St. Thomas Minor Hockey Association holds tryouts in late August and early September AFTER the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs have had their tryouts. St. Thomas Minor Hockey is meeting with the EM Chief Executive Committee shortly to discuss co-ordination of tryouts to ensure players have opportunity to tryout for both AAA (Elgin-Middlesex) and A Hockey within their organization. This is a significant development and The STMHA will keep tryout and registration information up to date on their web-site www.stmha.net when it becomes available. Keep in mind that St. Thomas is the ONLY A Centre you may tryout for if your home centre is Lambeth.  You do NOT have the opportunity to tryout for Jr. Knights A or any other A level of hockey.

Please remember that you must choose which of AA or A you will tryout for and that you cannot tryout for both.  Also a bit problematic is the timing of these tryouts. Please take special care in determining what is your best course of action.
