Penalty shot goal helps Atom AE Win Tournament
Congratulations to the Atom AE Lancers who went a perfect 4-0 to win the Aylmer AE March Break Tournament. The Lancers played great as a team and had great goaltending from Owen Walker who posted 2 shutouts and only allowed 3 goals all weekend.
The Final was a very close game as it was 0-0 at the start of the third before Dylan Costea-Shreve put the Lancers up 1-0 with over 7 minutes left to play. Ingersoll didn't back down and was able to tie it up with 2:37 left to play which set up the dramatic finish. Preston Fowler was pulled down from behind on a breakaway and awarded a penalty shot. You could hear a pin drop in the rink before Preston ripped a wrist shot into the net and the crowd and bench went crazy to give the Lancers a 2-1 lead with 1:54 left to play. Ingersoll pulled their goalie and applied a lot of pressure but the Lancers were very determined to keep the puck out of their end. Finally with just over a minute left Jake Lessard cleared the puck into the empty net securing the victory for the Lancers and their 3rd tournament win of the season.
