Girls - U15 Bantam B Girls - Bantam B Girls Win The Lower Lakes West In A Thriller!
Submitted By Darryl Van Slyke on Wednesday, March 11, 2020
Our Lambeth B Girls team are off to Lower Lakes Championship Weekend (Best of the Best) for the second season in a row!

With an absolute thriller at Lambeth Arena Wednesday night, our girls had the best of 3 series in their grasp, leading 3 points to 1 in the series. With a very talented team in Sarnia needing a win in regulation, they did exactly that, handing our Lancers their first loss of the playoffs to force a series deciding 10 minute sudden death OT and shootout if necessary to decide the winner of the stacked West division.

Starting OT 4 on 4 with it all on the line our Lancers just turned up the heat and just poured it on with chance after chance out shooting the Sting 10-2 until we got into a couple unfortunate penalty calls. Down 5 skaters to 3 with 2 minutes left, the Sting poured shot after shot on our little MVP Teare in net. She thwarted their onslaught of chances with our three players Davidson, Basilio and Young playing like a five girl unit. Absolute exhaustion setting in, our leader Burk gets out of the penalty box and goes in on a breakaway and gets denied by a very solid Sarnia net-minder near the end of OT.

Up next comes the dreaded shootout. Our Burk (who told me several times during the game she felt like puking and was ill, but insisted on playing like the absolute beauty she is) would not be denied a second time and buries home a nasty little deke to take the shootout lead two shooters in. All three Sarnia shooters attempted dekes and our brick wall Teare would crush their attempts at heroics and we win the series!

Up next is the Best of the Best tourney in Toronto to face off against the five other divisional winners. Our team has proven this year we can beat anyone and we as coaches couldn’t be more proud of their season thus far.

Go Lancers Go!

Thank You
