A Golden Weekend in Belle River
The Lambeth Lancers U9MD1 team recently traveled to the Belle River U9 Full Ice Championship, one of the most prestigious and largest U9 hockey tournaments in the world. Hosting a massive field of 96 teams across various divisional tiers, the event features a grueling 5-game schedule for every participant. Within each tier, 32 teams compete in a modified elimination bracket, where teams are constantly re-seeded to face opponents with identical records. In this high-stakes environment, the Lancers didn't just compete, they excelled.

🏆 Tournament Highlights

• The Performance: The boys battled through the Warrior Division, finishing with a stellar 4–1–0 record. Their resilience was on full display as they charged through the Granite Bracket to secure the Gold Medal.

• The Standings: Out of 32 elite teams in their division, the Lancers finished 9th overall, proving they belong among the top tier of U9 talent.

🛡️ Elite Defensive Excellence

While the Gold Medals are the physical prize, the team’s statistical performance was perhaps the most "impressive" takeaway of the weekend. The Lancers played a disciplined, team-first style of hockey that made them nearly impossible to score on:

• #1 in the Warrior Division: The Lancers allowed the fewest goals of all 32 teams in their tier.

• #3 in the Tournament: Out of all 96 teams attending the tournament, the Lancers finished 3rd overall in Goals Against.

A Proud Moment for Lambeth

Finishing the weekend as the defensive kings of the tournament is a credit to the goaltending, the defensive core, and the relentless backchecking of the forwards. The coaching staff and families are incredibly proud of the effort, growth, and sportsmanship the boys displayed over all five games.

Congratulations to the players and families on a historic weekend of hockey!U9MD1.jpg
