Lambeth Advances In OMHA Playdowns with 3-1 Win
The Lancers, with a strong 10 minute stretch of hockey early in the first period and the steady goaltending throughout the game of Caleb Millar, beat the Mt Brydges Cougars 3-1 to win the OMHA Preliminary Series in three straight games. Lambeth will now face off against the Strathroy Jr. Rockets in Round #1 of the OMHA Play-downs.

Mitch Chard scored 2 goals two minutes apart starting at the 10:00 minute mark of the opening period and the Lancers never looked back. Both goals were the result of some hard work by Nick North and Cole Chilvers and the steady blue line play of the Lambeth defense. Unfortunately, the Lancers then seemed to think that they had the game well in hand and they started to coast. Not a smart thing to do against the fast skating Cougars who cut the margin in half with a goal of their own early in the 2nd period. Miller in the Lancer net and Mt Brydges goalie Matt Lockwood then took turns making solid saves to keep their respective teams in an exciting game.

Then late in the 3rd period with their OMHA season on the line, Mt. Brydges pulled their goalie for an extra attacker which ultimately provided a wide open net to game #2 hero Kyle Mackay. Although Mackay scored the goal, the work was done by Ryan Haruta in the corner, who fought off two Cougars, 3 black and white striped jackals and a partridge in a pear tree to feed Mackay a perfect pass in front of the Mt. Brydges net. Sorry, I get carried away at times!!

The Lancers now wait for a date to start their series against Strathroy.
