Finally Five Hundred
With St. Marys in town and Ian Gough nursing a sore shoulder, the Major Midgets turned to alternate goalie Patrick Young to steer them to the 0.500 mark on the season. A shut-out first period helped Patrick calm his nerves, and a Lambeth goal from the blue line during the first minute of play by Robbie Kuiack served notice that the home team was hungry for a win.

Another tally from the defensive core by Ryan Gough paced the Lancers to a 2-0 lead, as the home team dominated in every category. The roar of the game faded to a whimper in the second as the referee struggled to distinguish legitimate checks from head shots. The Lancers played until the 4:53 mark of the 2nd before all of their troops were finally freed from the penalty box confines.

Moose Haruta scored the lone goal by a forward courtesy of deft passes by both Zach Waller and Casey Coyle. While Nick Larusso was thwarted by the St. Marys goalie on an inspired short-handed rush, he was not to be denied in the last minute of the second period as he scored during a rare bit of 5 on 5 hockey. A couple of quick goals by the visiting squad had Patrick Young second guessing himself as St. Marys made the most of the extra 16 minutes in penalties assessed to Lambeth. A second goal on the night by Robbie Kuiack sealed the deal however, as Lambeth notched a 5-4 victory thanks in large part to the their offensive defenders, and a solid night between the pipes by Mr. Young.
